Affirmations have made a big impact on my mental health, but I won’t pretend I’m perfect at using them all the time.

Perfectionism has a way of creeping in quietly. It shows up as overthinking, second-guessing, and feeling like nothing is ever quite “ready” or good enough. And when I’m in that mindset, my thoughts can spiral quickly.

When that happens, I have to intentionally stop myself in my tracks. I’ll grab my phone or a notebook where I’ve written affirmations and start reading them…sometimes a little aggressively at first 😅

Then I pause, breathe, and repeat them again with more kindness. That’s usually when I start to feel the shift.

I’m still learning how to work through perfectionism, but having a few go-to affirmations has helped me take action instead of staying stuck.

Here are a few I come back to often 🤍

10 Affirmations for A Perfectionist

  1. Done is better than perfect.
  2. I am allowed to be a beginner.
  3. I don’t need approval to move forward.
  4. I trust myself to figure things out.
  5. I am safe to show up as I am.
  6. I don’t need to compare my journey.
  7. I allow things to be “good enough.”
  8. I am growing through action, not perfection.
  9. I don’t need to wait to feel ready.
  10. I trust the process.

How to Use Affirmations Daily

You can use affirmations in whatever way fits your day best. There’s no “right” way to do this at all!

For me, I keep them in a few easy places so they’re always within reach:

  • a note in my phone
  • a notebook
  • sticky notes on my bathroom mirror

If you can, say them out loud. There’s something powerful about hearing the words, even if it feels a little awkward at first.

And on days when that feels like too much, even quietly repeating them in your head can help shift your mindset.

Start simple. One or two affirmations can be enough to reset your day.
