New Mom Lessons Learned & Real Talk [Part 7: Ultimate Baby Registry Guide & Advice]

It can all be a little much.

The baby registry can feel overwhelming. And once your little one arrives? That’s a whole new level of unknown.

As moms (and dads too), we go through an incredible transformation. I know I have. I felt confident during the prep: setting up his room, reading all the books, checking every item off the registry. But once he was here, I realized how much I still had to learn.

Now, two years in, I know this for sure: I’ll never have it all figured out, and that’s okay. I’m doing my best, and that is enough.

In this Ultimate Registry Guide series, my goal was to help you focus on what you truly need, starting from the nursery to your own self-care. Every baby, every family, every journey looks different. And that’s the whole point.

Here are some lessons that have stuck with me so far:

Be adaptable. Things change constantly and quickly. That doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.
Ask for help. Even for the little things. Yes, the dishes count. So does that one pile of laundry. You may notice more than anyone else, so don’t assume others see it too. Say it out loud.
Self-care isn’t selfish. If you’re not okay, it’s hard to pour into anyone else, even if your heart wants to.

To all you new mamas and dads, this is a wild ride. But it’s yours. Don’t compare it to anyone else’s version of parenthood. Comparison is the thief of joy. Embrace your adventure, your baby, your rhythm.

Surround yourself with support. Build a community that’s easy to lean on. And when a hard day comes (because it will), know that one bad day doesn’t define you. You’re doing better than you think.
